Chorlton Meadows

Last Saturday I was invited to Hardy Farm pavilion for a private consultation with West Didsbury and Chorlton FC, along with Councillor Sheila Newman and Councillor Val Stevens.  We had a chance to view the revised plans and raise any questions or concerns we had with the club directly.

Now that the new plans have been submitted to the Council there is a 14 day consultation period, giving all those who continue to object to them the chance to make their views known.

Whilst the site of the all-weather pitch has been moved, parts of the footpath preserved and the total number of pitches has been reduced, we maintain that the plans remain completely unsuitable for the site and therefore we are going to continue to oppose them.

The ‘Save Chorlton Meadows’ campaign has really taken off locally with the Facebook group having collected nearly 6,000 members and there is an excellent blog on the issue, both addresses you can find below:

The local Labour Councillors and I remain committed to the preservation of the much-loved Meadows and welcome the views and comments of local residents.
